Though tickets for the Roger Waters The Wall Live tour won’t go on sale at  until Monday, May 10, a limited number of special VIP experience packages will be made available on Thursday, May 6. Interested fans will have two package options to choose from.

The first, the Roger Waters Official Party Package, includes the following:

• One premium, reserved ticket located within the first 15 rows of the stage or side stage

Prior to this, the 1979 concept album has only been performed 31 times — by PInk Floyd in 1980-81 with limited engagements in Los Angeles, London, Uniondale, N.Y. and Dortmund, West Germany, and an all-star presentation by Waters in July of 1990 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Waters, who played “The Dark Side of the Moon” in its entirety during 2007-08, will reportedly take “The Wall” to Europe in 2011, but no dates have yet been announced.

The show will be a state-of-the art affair, featuring a 240-foot-wide and 35-foot-tall wall constructed and subsequently torn down during the concerts. Other props and special effects are expected to be part of the show as well.

Waters is re-launching his official web site at 2 p.m. today with ticket sale information.

Released in November of 1979, “The Wall” — which focuses on a disaffected young musician facing an existential personal crisis that reflected Waters’ state of mind at the time — spent 15 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified 23-times platinum and won a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Recording — Non-Classical.

The show hits Madison Square Garden on Oct. 5, the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J., on Nov. 3 and Philadelphia’s Wachovia Center on Nov. 8 and 9. The Philly dates and Chicago dates on Sept. 20 and 21 are the only multi-show stops in the tour.

The tour kicks off Sept. 15 in Toronto and finishes in Anaheim, Calif., on Dec. 13. Ticket prices and sale dates have not been announced.

Pink Floyd toured with a ”Wall” show in 1980-81, but only 12 shows were played in the United States — all in Los Angeles and Uniondale, N.Y. Waters also played ”The Wall” in 1990 in Berlin to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall.

On his Web site, http://www.rogerwaters.com , under the heading ”Why am I doing ‘The Wall’ again, now?” Waters says:

”It has occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss with its concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns: Nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, Whatever! All these issues and -isms are driven by the same fears that drove my young life.

”This new production of The Wall is an attempt to draw some comparisons, to illuminate our current predicament, and is dedicated to all the innocent lost in the intervening years.

”I believe we have at least a chance to aspire to something better than the dog-eat-dog ritual slaughter that is our current response to our institutionalized fear of each other.

”I feel it is my responsibility as an artist to express my, albeit guarded, optimism, and encourage others to do the same. To quote the great man, ‘You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.’ ”
